Eleventh Rural Energy Conference Features RACEE Day

The 11th biennial Rural Energy Conference, organized and sponsored by the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Energy Authority and ACEP, features presentations and panels on energy efficiency, renewable energy in ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ, energy economics and rural ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ perspectives.

Keynote speakers for the 2018 conference include University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ President James R. Johnsen and ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Energy Authority Executive Director Janet Reiser.

Prior to the conference, on April 9, the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Energy Authority in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy will host a Remote ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Communities Energy Efficiency Competition peer exchange, .

The empowers remote ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ communities to develop reliable, affordable solutions using energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. In 2015, the Department of Energy launched the $4 million initiative in three phases. The initiative meets some of the challenges posed by ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ’s unique energy profile. Rural ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æns face high energy costs; saving energy helps free up household budgets for food, medicine and other necessities.

The communities in the final phase of RACEE include the City of Galena, Village of Holy Cross, Village of Kiana, Village of Klawock, City of Noorvik, City of Port Lions and City of Ruby.

The REC will be held April 9-12 in Fairbanks at the Westmark Hotel. Register .
