The 2025-26 season is off to a hot start for ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Nanooks Athletics, and the energy across campus is undeniable. Leading the charge is your Nanook volleyball team, who recently brought home the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic Championship with an unforgettable display of talent, grit, and team chemistry. All of it unfolded alongside one of the largest, most energetic crowds ever seen in the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Airlines Gymnasium, energized by the 3rd Annual Food Truck Rally. With a near-perfect start to their season (9-1) and the best beginning in program history, they’ve become the early spark that’s ignited Nanook Nation. And they're just getting started. Slugs slither into Fairbanks gardens

This summer, the real enemy in many Fairbanks gardens wasn't drought or moose — it was slugs. "I get more calls about slugs every year," said Gooseberry Peter, agriculture and integrated pest management program assistant with the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service. Most people calling have never had slugs before, making these slimy critters a major topic of conversation for Fairbanks gardeners this season. Read more on the summer garden visitors.


UAF Alumni Association seeks awards nominations

Delta Junction arborist to lead pruning workshop

A licensed arborist in Delta Junction will lead a free in-person workshop on the proper way to prune trees and shrubs. The workshop is sponsored by the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and Partners for Progress in Delta. Learn more and register.
