Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research
The (BNZ LTER) program is located in the boreal forest of interior ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ, USA. Research of the BNZ LTER focuses on improving our understanding of the long-term consequences of changing climate and disturbance regimes in the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æn boreal forest. The site was established in Fairbanks, ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ in 1987 as part of the National Science Foundation's LTER Program. The BNZ LTER has research sites in the (BCEF), (CPCRW), as well as sites throughout interior ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ.
Fire is a key element of the boreal forest ecosystem. The 2010 Willow Creek fire in Bonanza Creek LTER burned 2,900 acres.
