With home heating fuel costs rising, solar energy is getting a closer look. The Cooperative Extension Service will offer a workshop on home solar design Saturday, Feb. 16, at the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Fairbanks.
Rich Seifert, Extension’s energy and housing specialist, will lead "Integrating Solar Design Into Your ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Home" from 1-5 p.m. Saturday in Schaible Auditorium. Seifert will discuss ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ-specific solar aspects, recent experience with solar hot water installations, photovoltaics andoptimizing passive design with energy conservation. There is a charge of $10 for the course text, "A Solar Design Manual for ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ."
