Sarah Andrew receives 2016 Kay Thomas Pathfinder Award

Sarah Andrew, manager of adult learning programs at the UAF Bristol Bay Campus, has
received the 2016 Kay Thomas Pathfinder Award.
The award is presented annually by the Department of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Native Studies and Rural
Development to an individual who works tirelessly on behalf of rural and ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Native students.
The award is named for Kay Thomas, a previous UAF staff member.
In addition to her work at the Bristol Bay Campus, Andrew serves on the Dillingham
City School District School Board. ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ 80 percent of the district's students are ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ
Natives.
Andrew also advocates for parents and students who are navigating the special education and
individualized education program processes within the school district. Additionally,
she is an instructor in developmental education with the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ and
works with numerous programs as instructor and advocate for students.
Andrew is also the chair of the UAF Bristol Bay Campus Family Literacy Project and
a board member for the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Disability Law Center.
