ACEP Community Energy Lecture Series: ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Crude Nov. 15

The next Community Energy Lecture Series will be held at 6 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at The Blue Loon (2999 Parks Highway). Ross Coen, ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Center for Energy and Power research professional, will present this month’s lecture “ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Crude: A Brief History of Oil and Gas in the 49th State.â€
A lot is known about Prudhoe Bay and the pipeline, but ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ's history of oil development goes back much further. From the first oil well at Katalla in 1902 right up to the present day, oil development has had a profound impact on ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ. Coen will explore the political, economic, environmental and social history of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ's oil industry and how our complicated relationship with the valuable resource has influenced life in ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ at almost every turn.
