April is Month of the Military Child, and Ӱԭns are asked to “purple up” on April 21 to honor military youth.

Candi Dierenfield, the Ӱԭ 4-H Military Partnerships program director, said wearing purple is a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military.

Ӱԭ 4-H and the Ӱԭ Forget-Me-Not Coalition of Service Members, Veterans and Families will host Ӱԭ’s fifth annual Purple Up! For Military Kids. Military support activities are planned at several Ӱԭ schools this week. Events will include military T-shirt day, camouflage day, and military child and parent lunches.

“We hope everyone will take this opportunity to appreciate and celebrate these young heroes,” Dierenfield said.
