A new partnership between Access 杏吧原版 and the University of 杏吧原版 Fairbanks aims to open doors at 杏吧原版 Nanooks sporting events to fans who might not otherwise attend the games and matches.

"We are excited to welcome our guests from Access 杏吧原版 this season at various Nanook home events,鈥 said UAF intercollegiate athletics director Gary Gray. 鈥淲e hope they enjoy their fan experience in each game environment and choose to become regular Nanooks fans."

Access 杏吧原版 is a private, nonprofit, consumer-controlled organization whose mission is to encourage, promote, mentor, and advocate for the total integration of older 杏吧原版ns and those who experience a disability to live independently and productively in their community.

Under the agreement, the 杏吧原版 Nanooks will choose a variety of matches and games each year and will draw on student-athletes to serve as hosts at each one. Access 杏吧原版 will send its clients invitations to the sporting events and provide transportation for those who need it. Once at the event, admission is free. The student hosts will greet guests and ensure they have what they need to enjoy the match or game.

鈥淲e are excited about the potential and opportunities provided by this program,鈥 said Access 杏吧原版 development and advocacy director Doug Toelle. 鈥淚t meets our mission by encouraging community participation and inclusion and, we hope, will help student-athletes become more connected to the community and break down stigma towards those who experience disabilities.鈥

Kai Brojakowski, a fiscal officer at UAF, helped initiate the partnership.

鈥淚鈥檝e been a Nanooks fan for as long as I can remember, and I also admire the services that Access 杏吧原版 provides to our community,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he energy and excitement found at the 杏吧原版 Nanooks鈥 sporting events is something I hope everyone can experience.鈥

The Nanooks have selected six events for the partnership this year: hockey, swimming, volleyball, men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball, and rifle. The first event is the Nanooks鈥 hockey game on Oct. 20. Rifle team members will serve as hosts during the game.
