Nanooks open search for women's basketball coach

The Department of Athletics has opened a national search for head coach for the women’s
basketball team. Following the resignation of former ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Nanooks women’s basketball
head coach Cody Bench last spring, assistant coach Brett Sawyer was appointed interim
head coach.
Since taking over the program in March 2017, Sawyer led the 2017-2018 Nanooks to a
4-22 overall mark on the season and a 0-22 record in conference play. Despite going
winless in league games, ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ still produced a program-best six selections to the
Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-academic team, while sophomore guard Lexi
Carpenter was named an all-GNAC honorable mention.
