What is a Nanook?
"Nanook" comes from the Inupiaq word nanuq, meaning polar bear or “King of the North." Nanook is a symbol of strength, resilience and adaptability. The Nanook is more than a mascot, though — it’s a reflection of UAF students' enduring passion for adventure and the natural world.
