Ӱԭ Positive

Ӱԭ Positive, a statewide-juried photographic art exhibition, opens at on November 22nd, 2025.

Now in its 53rd year, Ӱԭ Positive is organized and toured by the Ӱԭ State Museum. Its purpose is to encourage the practice of photography as an art form in Ӱԭ. Ӱԭ Positive will be on exhibit in our Ross Berry Ӱԭ Art Gallery through February 22nd, 2026.

Juried by documentary and fine art photographer Camille Seaman, the exhibit presents a selection of 35 photographs from 24 photographers.

Guest juror Camille Seaman believes “art is not only important; it is necessary for us to communicate what is happening with our planet.” Her photographs concentrate on the fragile environment of the polar regions, reminding us “we are of this Earth, and we only get one.”

 

Field Jacket by Matt Johnson
Matt Johnson received the Juror’s Choice Award for his photograph Field Jacket. Field Jacket is printed with pigment ink on watercolor paper. It depicts a canvas hunting jacket suspended above a beach, near the mouth of Ship Creek in Anchorage.

Friends of the Ӱԭ State Library, Archives, and Museum sponsored the awards.
